Courses have become available for Part-time Faculty for the Fall/Winter 2009-2010 session. The list of courses are available

Candidates must have a Ph.D. or be a candidate for a Ph.D. or have extensive teaching experience (10 years at other levels) All candidates are asked to complete an application form for part-time teaching available on the following site www.cupfa.org . Along with the application form candidates are asked to provide a detailed course description, including course requirements and readings for every course applied for. No application will be considered without it. New applicants to the department should also include a copy of their c.v.and two letters of recommendation. According to Article 10.11(b) part-time faculty members (on the seniority list - posted in the department) are responsible for seeing that his/her dossier is kept up to date(c.v. updates, latest course evaluations, etc.....)
All of the above must be originals (faxes will not be accepted) and should be submitted to Dr. Peter Stoett by the deadline date of May 15th, 2009, with a copy sent to the Part-time Faculty Union (CUPFA).

It is a pleasure to congratulate Eli Friedland, one of our Political Science Majors, for winning the Social Sciences Oral Presentation First Prize at the Concordia Undergraduate Research Day last Friday, April 3rd, 2009. Eli, a student of Drs. Hutter and Sokolon, gave a brilliant discussion on Plato and revenge. Thanks also to Dr. Manning for volunteering to be one of the judges at this event. his
Application forms for the Jean Picard Scholarship are now available at
the Political Science Department (reception desk – H1225-22) or on the department website under "Awards and Scholarships" .
This year the department is offering one (1) scholarship of up to $500 to a
returning Political Science student (must be registering for the 2009-2010 academic year). The scholarship is awarded to an undergraduate student on the basis of scholastic achievement (GPA of at least 3.00) a personal statement as well as 2 reference letters (from university professors) written on behalf of the applicant.
Application deadline is April 3rd, 2009.
Professor Douglas Long, Department of Political Science, University of Western Ontario will present a paper on “Property and propriety: variations on a theme from Thomas Hobbes to Adam Smith” on Friday, February 20th, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM in Room 1220.

Concordia student Jamal Tekleweld's "consultancy report" was accepted as one of two keynote addresses at the Canadian Political Science Students Association Conference, to take place next month. His report will also be published in the association journal.
